Costa Rica Sunsets and Rainforests

"Costa Rica" is a Spanish phrase meaning "rich coast". The name was given to the country by Christopher Columbus in 1502 because he believed the land was filled with precious metals and gold, a belief that proved incorrect but the name stuck. Golden sunsets on the pacific coast are a sight to behold. Breathtaking rainforests of Costa Rica are characterized by immensely diverse ecosystems supporting diverse plant and animal species redefining its name to be the rich biodiverse coast! The country takes care of its rainforests and has done an amazing job in preserving and highlighting them. You can enjoy some samples of these forests and the beaches in this gallery.

Costa Rica Biodiversity

Costa Rica boasts exceptional biodiversity, hosting an estimated 5-6% of the world's known species in a small landmass thanks to diverse ecosystems, microclimates, and a unique geographic history as a land bridge connecting continents. A small glimpse of this biodiversity is presented in this gallery. From birds in the wild to butterfly gardens conserving these species, its a truly mesmerizing experience for any nature lovers.

Costa Rica Art, Architecture and Culture

Costa Rican culture, or "Tico culture," is a blend of Spanish, Indigenous, and African influences, characterized by the phrase "Pura Vida" (pure life), which embodies a laid-back, optimistic, and family-oriented lifestyle. From pre-Columbian “metates” (grinding stones) to Spanish colonial architecture, this country offers an unique experience of the old world and the new world. I had the privilege of visiting Costa Rica when it celebrated its independence day (September 15th) with parades and music by talented kids!
