"Costa Rica" is a Spanish phrase meaning "rich coast". The name was given to the country by Christopher Columbus in 1502 because he believed the land was filled with precious metals and gold, a belief that proved incorrect but the name stuck. Golden sunsets on the pacific coast are a sight to behold. Breathtaking rainforests of Costa Rica are characterized by immensely diverse ecosystems supporting diverse plant and animal species redefining its name to be the rich biodiverse coast! The country takes care of its rainforests and has done an amazing job in preserving and highlighting them. You can enjoy some samples of these forests and the beaches in this gallery.
